Schumer: Lake Placid Airport To Receive Over $93,000

Money will be used to conduct environmental study required before beginning airport projects

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the US Department of Transportation has awarded $93,571 in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants to Lake Placid Airport for airport improvements.

“Safe and secure air service is a critical engine of the North Country’s continued economic growth,” said Schumer. “This funding will allow Lake Placid to beef up its landing and runway technologies to meet today's modern aviation demands.” Airports must conduct environmental assessments before embarking on airport projects. Lake Placid Airport will use the grant to prepare an environmental assessment for projects identified by the Airport's master plan.

Schumer also announced that the US Department of Transportation will provide $300,000 for the Syracuse Suburban Airport to conduct an airport master plan study and rehabilitate a runway. The Buffalo-Lancaster Airport will also receive $58,898 to construct a T-Hanger building.
