SCHUMER ANNOUNCES OVER $1.75 MILLION COMING TO TOWN OF ARCADIA FOR WATER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Funds Will Be Used to Install Water Main - Improve Quality of Life, Boost Local Economy in Wayne County

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a grant and a loan totaling $1,762,000 to the Town of Arcadia under the USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Direct Loan Program. The funds include a grant of $307,000 and a loan for $1,455,000 and will be used to install a water main near sections of Marbletown, Miller, Ridley, Hartnagle, Sutton, Brumm, and Bluecut roads in the town of Arcadia to bring critical water development to rural New York.

"This is wonderful news for Arcadia," said Schumer. "Developing the water system is integral to the health and prosperity of Wayne County and its citizens. In these tough economic times, it is imperative that we invest in critical infrastructure projects to create jobs and support our local economy."

The USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Grant and Loan program provides funds to reduce water and waste disposal costs to a reasonable level for rural users. The grant program also sends funds to help develop water and waste disposal systems in rural areas and towns.  Grants can be used to construct, repair, modify, expand, and improve water supply and distribution systems, acquire needed land and water sources, and pay for legal and engineering fees when necessary to build facilities.
