SENATORS SCHUMER AND GILLIBRAND ANNOUNCE $15 MILLION IN ECONOMIC RECOVERY ACT FUNDING COMING TO JOHN F. KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced a $15,000,000 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for the John F. Kennedy International Airport.  The grant will be used to rehabilitate the runway.

"This is great news for New York City," said Schumer. "These federal dollars will go a long way in providing the necessary infrastructure improvements to keep the JFK International Airport running smoothly for years to come."

“These much needed federal funds will improve JFK International Airport, a critical transit hub for the world," said Gillibrand, a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. “I will continue to work with Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional delegation to ensure that New York gets its fair share of federal dollars to help fix this economy.”

According to the DOT grant, these funds will provide federal funding to rehabilitate Runway 13R/31L at John F. Kennedy International Airport
