Schumer: Genesee County Airport To Receive $1.6 Million

Money will be used for runway extension

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the US Department of Transportation has awarded $1.6 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants to Genesee County Airport for the extension of the airport’s runway.

“Safe and dependable air service is a critical engine of Western New York’s continued economic growth,” said Schumer. “This funding will allow the Genesee County Airport to revitalize to meet today's modern aviation demands.”

The Genesee County Airport will use the grant to extend their runway by 5,500 feet. The project will help to ensure a safe aircraft traffic at the airport.

Schumer has been a long time proponent of getting better air service in upstate New York.
