SCHUMER ANNOUNCES FINAL CONGRESSIONAL PASSAGE OF $200,000 FOR ADELPHI TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM-WILL PREPARE TEACHERS FOR MATH AND SCIENCE CURRICULUM
Today, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced final Congressional passage of $200,000 to Adelphi University for Adelphi’s Intensive Institute of Mathematics and Science Education. The funding will increase the classroom readiness of teachers of grades 5 to 8, in close alignment with the NYS Learning Standards and Core Curriculum for both Mathematics and Science.
“This funding is an important step towards improving the overall quality of math and science education on Long Island,” said Schumer. “Too often the importance of teaching these vital subjects in schools is overlooked. With this funding, teachers will have the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and understanding of math and science in order to better serve their students.”
The appropriations bill will now head to President Obama for his signature.
