SCHUMER ANNOUNCES NEW YORK APPLE GROWERS, LLC. TO RECEIVE$170,000 USDA GRANT – INVESTMENT WILL HELP LAUNCH MARKETING CAMPAIGN FOR TWO BRAND NEW APPLE VARIETIES
Today, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced that New York Apple Growers, LLC has received a Value-Added Producer Grant for $170,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Development. The grant will be used to improve the New York Apple Growers’ marketing and distribution of two new varieties of apple.
"Efficiently supporting our rural communities with funding for small business is pivotal for our community and our economy,” said Schumer. “Funding projects with New York Apple Growers will help promote New York’s apples statewide and beyond, leading the way in local economic development.”
Rural Development funds are made available to agricultural producers seeking to establish or expand markets for their value-added agricultural products. Grant funds will be used as working capital to launch a marketing campaign to introduce consumers to two new branded and licensed premium apple varieties. Specifically, this will help develop the name of the new apples, the brand identity, logo, and trademark and then help roll out the new varieties into the consumer markets.
The grant is part of the USDA Rural Development annual budget. USDA Rural Development’s mission is to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for rural residents. Rural Development fosters growth in homeownership, finances business development, and supports the creation of necessary community and technology infrastructure.
