As the September 11th attacks made clear, we must be ever-vigilant and do all we can to keep our homeland safe from those who wish to do us harm. New York remains the target of choice for would-be terrorists and to deal with this ongoing threat, Chuck has delivered hundreds of millions in federal aid from the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), the Transportation Security and Port Security Grant program, and the Securing the Cities (STC) grant program.

As a member of the judiciary committee, he is focused on maintain the proper balance between the genuine need to gather intelligence on those planning violence against our citizens and the need to protect peoples’ privacy.

Chuck is also a leader in securing federal resources to address crime, from staunching the flow of crime weapons into our neighborhoods to expanding the DEA’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas. And he has fought to improve the communication and cooperation between federal, state and local law enforcement organizations.
