SCHUMER, GILLIBRAND ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $65,000 IN FED FUNDS FOR RANDOLPH REGIONAL EMS CORPORATION IN CATTARAUGUS COUNTY
Funds Will Be Used To Enhance Response Capabilities And Acquire Safety & Operations Supplies
U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $65,239 in federal funding for the Randolph Regional EMS Corporation in Cattaraugus County. The funding was allocated through the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. Specifically, the federal funding will be used to improve their ability to protect the health and safety of the public and allow them to purchase critical safety and operations supplies.
“Our first responders are local heroes and work tirelessly to keep our community safe and save countless lives,” said Senator Schumer. “That’s why it is so important to ensure that our Randolph Regional EMS technicians have the necessary resources and equipment to effectively do their jobs. This federal funding will ensure that their ability to respond quickly and provide critical emergency medical care will only get better.”
“These federal funds will allow our first responders in Cattaraugus County to purchase the up-to-date equipment they need to stay safe and do their jobs effectively,” said Senator Gillibrand. “We need to do everything we can to protect the men and women who risk their lives every day in the face of danger, and I will always fight in the Senate to make sure that our first responders are given the support they deserve.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grants are administered by the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the Department's United States Fire Administration. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis to the applicants that most closely address the program's priorities and demonstrate financial need. Funding is allocated to strengthen the overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire and related hazards.
