\nOn July 2, 2008, Sen. Schumer visited Apalachin Pharmacy in Tioga County to introduce new legislation that will require Medicare to reimburse pharmacies for Medicare Part D prescription claims in a timely fashion. Many local pharmacies are forced to take out costly loans to make ends meet while awaiting reimbursement from Medicare that can take over 8 weeks. The Senator's bill requires that electronically submitted claims be repaid in 14 days and paper claims within 30 days.
