On April 29, 2022, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer convened a group of local officials at Bob’s Diner in Bainbridge to discuss economic development efforts in a tri-county area. Attendees described infrastructure needs, proposals to support small businesses, and other ongoing community development initiatives. Senator Schumer shared information about his new Rural Outdoor Investment (ROI) Act which would boost outdoor recreation, support Main Street businesses, revitalize Upstate New York’s rural downtowns, and accelerate the region’s economic recovery. He also discussed federal funding programs available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Appalachian Regional Commission.
