Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer joined a college professor, and Elmont mother of two, alongside community leaders from the Cornell Cooperative Extension who all understand the anxiety families feel at the grocery store checkout. As a response to the rising cost of living squeezing New York families, Senator Schumer has introduced the Family Grocery and Farmer Relief Act, legislation that breaks up the monopolistic hold foreign meatpacking corporations have, capping concentration in beef markets, and empowering the Federal Trade Commission to restore fairness, lowering prices for American families. “There are a lot of reasons costs are rising, from chaotic tariff policies to supple chain disruptions caused by the war in Iran. But one of the biggest and least discussed drivers of high food prices is the meat monopoly. And this bill takes it on directly,” said Senator Schumer.
