Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
On January 19, 2010, Schumer, joined by County Executive Mike Hein and representatives of local banks, New York Bankers Association (NYBA) and the New York Business Development Corporation (NYBDC), announced a plan to take Ulster's Credit for Success Program for small business lending statewide. Schumer announced the beginning of a program that will use capital from banks all over the state to increase the amount of credit available to small businesses. Schumer said that the program will establish regional loan pools to be committed by local banks and money center banks, to provide a critical source of funding for local businesses seeking to grow and expand, but which have not been able to secure financing due to the continuing credit crunch that is disproportionately affecting small businesses. Each county in the state will be included in one of the following consortiums: Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse or the Hudson Valley. Senator Schumer was also joined by the President of the New York State Business Development Corporation, Patrick MacKrell. www.schumer.senate.gov
