Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
On September 2, 2009 at the Chautauqua County Landfill in Ellery, Schumer joined Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards, Chautauqua County Legislators, Officials from the EPA and New York State DEC, as well as other officials to officially cut the ribbon to open a new state-of-the-art Methane Power Plant. The plant captures methane gas that is emitted from the county landfill, and converts it into clean energy that will help to power Chautauqua County, and produce revenue that will help to lower property taxes in the county. Schumer has secured over $2 million in federal funding for this important project.
