On June 29th, 2009, New York State Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Stan Gee, joined by Senator Charles Schumer, Congressman Steve Israel, Senator Carl Marcellino, Assemblyman James Conte, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, and Huntington Town Supervisor Frank Petrone, broke ground on the $27.9 million NY Route 110-Long Island Expressway bridge reconstruction and mobility improvement project in the Town of Huntington. This project will reconstruct the NY Route 110 Bridge over the LIE to improve vertical clearance for trucks and provide three full travel lanes on NY Route 110; reconfigure entrance/exit ramps and intersections to improve safety and traffic flow; and provide new, freshly paved roadways.
