Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
On July 19, 2010, Schumer, at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Buffalo, requested that Attorney General Eric Holder open a criminal investigation into allegations that oil giant BP may have engaged in an illegal deal to secure the release of Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi in exchange for access to Libyan oil fields. Schumer said that mounting evidence indicates a possible link between the release of al-Megrahi and the completion of long stalled negotiations between BP and the Libyan government. Schumer was joined by the family of Colleen Brunner, who was one of 270 people killed when Pan Am flight 103 exploded over Lockerbee, Scotland in 1988. Schumer also said, \"The more we learn about this situation the more sordid and disgusting it gets- it's time we have a full and transparent investigation so these families can have some measure of peace.\" For further information on Chuck Schumer please visit: www.schumer.senate.gov
