Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
\n On February 14, 2011, Schumer called on the Inspectors General of both the US Defense Department and the Department of Homeland Security, to conduct an independent investigation into the process, methodology, and relevance of data, collected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for mapping in Suffolk County and ultimately used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to update flood maps in Nassau County. The new flood maps in Nassau County have forced over 25,000 new structures into high-cost flood insurance cones with premiums as high as $3,000 per year.\n For further information on Chuck Schumer please visit\nwww.schumer.senate.gov
