Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
On March 23, 2009, Schumer was joined by Patrick Welch, Director of Erie County Veterans Services and other local veterans and families, in Cheektowaga, to call on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to designate Pine Lawn Cemetery in Cheektowaga a National Veterans Cemetery. Currently the families of Western New York Veterans have to travel all the way to Bath, NY, to bury or visit their loved ones. With this new designation, Veterans can have their final resting place located close to their family and friends. For further information on Chuck Schumer please visit: www.schumer.senate.gov
