\nOn January 4, 2012, Schumer visited the Nassau Police Intelligence Center and called for a new, three pronged approach to protecting local drug stores from the growing problem of pharmacy theft. First, Schumer called for the DEA to provide guidelines to help local pharmacies establish better security measures. Second, Schumer called for the DEA to share collected pharmaceutical and prescription drug theft with local law enforcement. Lastly, Schumer pressed for the passage of his bill that would increase maximum sentences for pharmacy-related crimes.
