Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
\nOn September 26th, 2012, Schumer visited Exit 22 on the Hutchinson Parkway, an overpass that has been hit over 90 times by trucks wrongly directed onto the Hutchinson Parkway to address the need for GPS companies to take initiative to differentiate truck routes for drivers. In the Hudson Valley, there have been over 600 occurrences of trucks hitting bridges on parkways within the last two decades. Many of these occurrences are due to the fact that drivers are not warned properly of these passenger car only routes. If the GPS companies were to ensure that truck routes were properly noted as the drivers were close to the dangerous routes, they would be able to avoid getting on these parkways and prevent bridge accidents.
