\nOn September 19, 2011 Schumer called on EPA Director Lisa Jackson to have the agency to take the lead role for the clean- up of the toxic Bethpage chemical plume that threatens over 20 additional public drinking wells and serve Nassau County residents in Massapequa, Bethpage, and South Farmingdale Water Districts. Schumer wants EPA to work to formalize an agreement between Navy and Grumman for costs of remediation of toxins before they contaminate more wells.
