Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
On October 19, 2010, Schumer discussed ways to level the playing field for New York-grown organic products. Standing at the Neversink Farm in Claryville, Schumer called for tighter FDA oversight of Chinese-grown organics, fearing that a lack of oversight would damage the reputation of all organic products, including New York's organic industry. Senator Schumer was joined by farm owners Kate and Connor Crickmore, an environmental specialist from the Sullivan County Department of Planning, and the Catskill Mountainkeeper.
