On July 1, 2009, Schumer visited the Crawford Furniture factory in Jamestown County. Schumer discussed his plan to help in the fight against the Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive species that attacks Ash trees, and was recently found in nearby Cattaraugus County. Crawford Furniture manufactures 12% of their products from Ash wood. Schumer outlined his plan to get more federal funding to help control the spread of this damaging insect.
