\nOn January 9.2013, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced that Hudson Valley Products such as Crown Maple Syrup of Dover Plains and Apples from Golden Harvest Orchards in Columbia County will be used for the Presidential Inaugural Luncheon on January 21, 2013. Schumer, Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, said that the Crown Maple Syrup and Golden Harvest Apples will be served along in the third course which includes a Hudson Valley apple pie with sour cream ice cream, aged cheddar and a caramel syrup reduction sauce. Schumer noted that New York apples, especially those from the Hudson Valley are among the country's finest. He also made note that Crown Maple in Dutchess County is one of the states largest and highest quality maple syrup producers. Schumer was joined by Inaugural Chef, Shannon Shaffer along with CIA President Dr. Tim Ryan, Derek Grout of Golden Harvest and Tyge Rubenstein of Crown Maple.
