On June 7th, 2010, Schumer visited the City of Newburgh to see firsthand how the city is grappling with its large gang issue. Schumer toured the city with a variety of federal officials, including Deputy Assistant Attorney General Mary Lou Leary and various FBI agents, to witness how gangs have impacted Newburgh. The tour was followed by a meeting with the Senator's staff, these federal officials, and local officials to discuss how the federal government can best aid Newburgh in its fight against gangs.
