On April 4, 2011, Schumer visited the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering to tour the complex. After the tour, Schumer announced the final push to secure a $100 million federal grant that would be a huge boost to the U.S. Photovoltaic Manufacturing Consortium, a partnership between SEMATECH and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at UAlbany, along with the University of Central Florida.
