On June 9, 2014, Schumer visited lower Main St. in Buffalo to launch his push to secure a $28M federal grant that would transform Buffalo's lower Main St. by making it accessible to both cars and light rail. Major revitalization of lower Main St. is already underway - including both Canalside and HarborCenter projects - but the lack of vehicle access leaves a critical part of the project undone and outdated. Schumer is pushing a project that would allow cars to share lower Main St. with light rail and pedestrians, with funding coming in the form of a federal TIGER grant.
