Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
On February 9, 2015, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer urged the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to expedite approval of the Town of Brookhaven’s application to construct a new wastewater treatment plant at Brookhaven Airport. The wastewater treatment plant is part of Suffolk’s proposed Mastic-Shirley sewer project, and approval is sorely needed so that the 3-year long project can move forward as soon as possible. The sewer project is being funded through Community Development Block Grant (CSBG) money from the Sandy Relief Bill and includes construction of a new sewage treatment plant that will service 5,300 homes in the Mastic-Shirley area. The project would be the largest undertaking for a Long Island sewer project since the construction of the Southwest Sewer District in southwestern Suffolk County 35 years ago.
