\nOn June 23, 2014 Schumer and local elected officials stood in a Troy neighborhood revitalized by CDBG funding. The funds are used to repair sidewalks, create affordable housing, and rejuvenate the city. CDBG funding is provided by HUD and cities must maintain a minimum requirement of citizens 50,000. Troy is only 54 citizens short of the requirement. In the past, HUD would grandfather cities in even if their population fell by a few people. However, HUD is changing their policy and the senator worries Troy will no longer be included.
