Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
\nOn January 27, 2014, Senator Schumer pushed for NYS Dept. of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to make traffic signal upgrades on Route 32, at the Route 17 Woodbury Common Exit, to help the community alleviate traffic as it waits for construction on a new exit that was put on hold until 2017. In contrast to standard traffic signals which have pre-programmed timing plans, adaptive traffic control technology allows traffic signals to adjust the timing to respond to the current traffic patterns thereby helping to ease congestion during all times of the day, but most importantly during peak hours. Schumer was joined by Woodbury Mayor Michael Queenan and several other Orange County elected officials.
