On September 5, 2011, Senator Schumer toured homes, businesses and roads in Philipstown that were severly damaged by Hurricane Irene. He pushed for Putnam County to receive FEMA aid in wake of the storm to rebuild roads and aid in reconstruction of local businesses and roads. Schumer was joined by a top FEMA aid, Supervisor of Philipstown, Richard Shea, County Executive Paul Elridge, and local residents of Philipstown.
