On April 10th, Senator Schumer visited Johnstown in Fulton county to call on FEMA to work with local officials and reassess the city's floodmaps. The current maps are outdated and do not take into account cross sections in the stream or the streams actual quantity of water. The maps are causing as many as 50 homeowners and several local businesses to pay extraordinarily high flood insurance rates.
