On March 9, 2009 Sen. Schumer, along with Governor David Paterson and NYSDOT Commissioner Astrid C. Glynn, announced New York's first statewide rail plan in more than two decades. The plan will double the number of intercity rail passengers along New York's three major corridors and help reduce congestion on highways and airports. It will also help create the first short line fleet in the nation.
