\nOn January 5, 2012, Schumer visited Confluence Park in the City of Binghamton, Broome County. Schumer discussed his efforts to ensure nineteen life-saving flood gauges in the Susquehanna River Basin are kept running. Schumer urged the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to spend already allocated money to keep the flood gauges working. Schumer was joined by Broome County Executive Debbie Preston, Broome County Director of Emergency Services and fire Coordinator Brett Chellis, Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan, and Deputy Supervisor from Union Rose Sotak.
