\nOn July 8, 2011, Schumer visited Guthrie Corning Hospital in Steuben County. Schumer discussed his support for the Preserving Access to Life-Saving Medication Act, S. 296. This legislation requires drug manufacturers to work with the Food and Drug Administration to ensure adequate supplies of life saving medications are always available to hospitals. Schumer was joined by Guthrie Corning hospital President and COO Shirley Magana, St. James Mercy hospital of Hornell President and CEO Mary LaRowe, and Mayor of Corning Richard Negri.
