On January 6, 2010, Schumer visited the J. Edward Fox Senior Center to President Obama to release emergency federal home heating aid to help seniors and low income families deal with heating bills this winter. Late last year, Congress approved $5.1 billion for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - the highest funding level in the history of the program. Schumer was joined by the Executive Director of the Senior Center, Liz Deiter, HEAP beneficiary, Mavis Cain and the Mayor of Mount Kisco, J. Michael Cindrich.
