Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
On April 5, 2010, Schumer visited the Stainless Steel Brake Corporation (SSBC) in Newstead to discuss efforts to crack down on Chinese currency manipulation that is hurting US manufacturing, especially companies like SSBC. Schumer was joined by the President of SSBC Michael Jonas, Amherst Chamber of Commerce Director Colleen DiPirro, and many employees from SSBC. Schumer announced that he is pushing new legislation to vigorously address China's currency manipulation that unfairly and negatively impacts U.S. trade. If passed, the legislation would provide less flexibility to the Treasury Department when it comes to citing countries for currency manipulation. It would also impose stiff new penalties on countries that manipulate their currency. For further information on Chuck Schumer please visit: www.schumer.senate.gov
