On April 1, 2013 Schumer was at the Parker Family Farm to push for the Maple Tap Act. The Act would provide USDA grants up to $20 million per year to states that create programs to encourage landowners to open up their trees to maple tapping. Schumer was joined by the Parker family, local officials, and members of the West Chazy community.
