On April 2, 2013 Schumer was at the Slyboro Ciderhouse in Granville to tour the facility and speak on new legislation, called the CIDER Act. The CIDER Act would update the definition for hard apple and pear cider in the Internal Revenue Code which would allow them to labeled and taxed like cider, rather than wine. The new definition would enable producers to better compete with European products abroad.
