On November 11, 2024, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer convened a group of local officials and small business owners at the Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development (SCOPED) FLX WORKS Coworking Space in the Village of Watkins Glen. Attendees described small business needs, tourism, and the success of a federally funded small business lending program, administered by Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development (SCOPED) and provided a general outlook of the county’s economy. Senator Schumer shared information about significant legislative milestones as well as opportunities made available through the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). Schumer supported the $192,500 Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant SCOPED received to expand a small business microlending program which has provided loans to 11 small businesses in Schuyler County.
