On Thursday October 30, 2008 Senator Schumer joined other elected officials near the banks of Cazenovia Creek in South Buffalo to take part in a signing ceremony where Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown signed a new flood map bill. Senator Schumer helped to push FEMA to remove over 2,400 South Buffalo and Kaisertown homeowners from its outdated flood map. With the new law, those residents are no longer forced to pay unnecessary and excessive insurance fees.
