Every year, Chuck commits to traveling to all62 counties in New York to meet with constituents.
U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer stood with Cate Carbonaro, Executive Director of The Retreat; Jennifer Hernandez, Executive Director of ECLI-VIBES; and other Long Island survivors and advocates in recognition of organizations like The Retreat, whose dedication to providing safety, shelter and support for all those affected by domestic violence, abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking is making a true difference on Long Island. Schumer also announced a new legislation named Virginia’s Law in honor of Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre. Virginia’s Law will end the federal Statute of Limitations that has enabled criminals like Jeffrey Epstein to escape prosecution by placing a limited timeframe for survivors to bring civil claims. “Justice should not expire. Abusers should not be able to run out the clock. Survivors should be able to come forward when they are ready, when they are strong enough, not when an arbitrary deadline forces their hand,” said Senator Schumer.
