SCHUMER ANNOUNCES BAE SYSTEMS IN ENDICOTT SET TO RECEIVE $7 MILLION ARMY CONTRACT

Today, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced that BAE Systems in Endicott, NY is set to receive $7 million from the U.S. Army to develop and supply vehicle electronics for the 600V, 70KW power generation, distribution and management subsystem for the Paladin Integrated Management (PIM) program. This investment by the U.S. Army is part of a larger contract worth $195 million to create 18 vehicle sets  19 PIM howitzers and 18 PIM Carrier Ammunition, Tracked vehicles   that will be used by the Army's Armored Brigade Combat Team. The Endicottbased team has been important throughout the Engineering Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the program, and will supply the vehicle electronics. The remaining work will be conducted at BAE's York, PA facility.

"This $7 million contract will help preserve jobs in New York's Southern Tier, and provide our troops with the state of the art resources they need on the ground."  

Schumer fought to keep BAE systems jobs in the Southern Tier after Tropical Storm Lee caused millions of dollars in damage to their facility in Johnson City. This recent contract with the U.S. Army solidifies the Endicott plant as a national leader in electronic systems production.Work on the contract is expected to begin immediately, with delivery of the first vehicle in mid2015.

Their wideranging products and services cover air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology, and support services. BAE Systems produces hightech equipment for a variety of applications within the federal government, including the U.S. military.
