Schumer, Clinton Announce Over $4 Million For The Elmira/Corning Regional Airport

Federal Money Will Be Used to Rehabilitate the Runway


U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded $4,363,085 in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funds to the Elmira/Corning Regional Airport.   Federal funds will be used to perform an important runway rehabilitation project.

 

"This is great news for Elmira," said Schumer. "The Elmira/Corning Regional Airport is an important general aviation facility in this region.   It is critical that we continue to provide the funds necessary to keep the airport safe and efficient.   With so many local aviators, tourists and businesspeople using the airport as a base of operation, it remains a key component of economic growth in the region."

 

"This is welcome news for New York's Southern Tier," said Senator Clinton. "This improvement will go a long way in enhancing air travel to and from the region and to benefit local businesses and the local economy.   I am pleased that we can further support the Elmira/Corning Regional Airport as it continues to serve business travelers and tourists alike."

 

Federal funds will be used to for a runway rehabilitation construction project. The construction will better position the airport to serve the surrounding business community more effectively, efficiently and safely.
