SENATORS SCHUMER AND GILLIBRAND ANNOUNCE OVER $1.7 MILLION TO SYRACUSE HANCOCK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT


Funding Will Help Improve Airport Safety in Onondaga County


 



U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that a $1,729,000 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant will be allocated to Syracuse Hancock International Airport. The grant will be used to rehabilitate the pavement of Taxiway M South at SyracuseHancock International Airport.
 
"This federal funding will help ensure the structural integrity of Syracuse Hancock International," said Schumer. "With this grant, the airport can make renovations that will improve the runway pavement, allowing it to better serve Onondaga County travelers and greatly improving aviation safety for all. I will continue to fight for funds that will help keep our airports safe and sustainable for years to come."
 
"This is a great investment for the Syracuse Hancock International Airport," Senator Gillibrand said. "These federal dollars will support job creation and bring critical updates for the airport. I will continue working with Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional Delegation to make sure New York gets its fair share from the federal government."
 
According to the DOT grant, these funds will go toward the rehabilitation of Taxiway M South at SyracuseHancock International Airport, as the existing pavement is in very poor condition and requires rehabilitation to enhance safe airfield operations.
