SCHUMER, GILLIBRAND SECURE KEY COMMITTEE APPROVAL OF MORE THAN FOUR MILLION TO THE ARMY RESERVE

Schumer, Gillibrand Secure Federal Appropriations To Construct Organizational Maintenance Shop In Rockland County

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, today announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved $4.2 million for construction in the Army Reserve Center (ARC) in Rockland County.

The investment, also included in the House Appropriations Bill, will be used to build a new Organizational Maintenance Shop within the ARC in Orangeburg. The current facility cannot meet the training needs of the engineer company.

“The current ARC in Rockland needs a full-scale upgrade to best train the dedicated men and women who serve in our Army Reserves. It is high-time we revitalize this center so we can give them the state-of-the-art facilities they need and deserve. I am pleased the House and Senate have included this New York priority in their bills – this is a significant federal investment that will ensure the ARC has the proper resources it needs to train our troops,” said Senator Schumer.

“Constructing a new Organizational Maintenance Shop is a critical investment that will equip the men and women of our Army Reserves with a state-of-the-art facility with the latest technology,” saidSenator Gillibrand, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “This funding will help our soldiers stationed in Orangeburg have the very best training facilities available and will help with retention of these troops.”

Now that the Senate Appropriations Committee has authorized the funding, the bill will now move to the full Senate.
