SCHUMER, GILLIBRAND SECURE KEY COMMITTEE APPROVAL OF MORE THAN SEVEN MILLION TO THE 107th AIR WING

Schumer, Gillibrand Secure Federal Appropriations To Upgrade Air National Guard Facility at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, today announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee appropriated $7.7 million for the Air National Guard unit stationed at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

The investment transforms the current squadron operations facility at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station into a fully-mission-capable military unmanned aerial vehicle Operations Center, Ground Control Station, squadron operations, flight training, and communications maintenance facility in one building. This project reuses the existing facility at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and increases security by having all military unmanned Aerial Vehicle operational functions together.

“It is high-time we revitalize these facilities so we can give the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station the state-of-the-art operations center and control station it needs and deserves. I am pleased the House and Senate have included these New York priorities in their bills – this will make sure we keep good jobs in the area, as well as ensure the station has the resources it needs to train Air National Guard members and efficiently house all of its squadron operations under one roof,” said Senator Schumer.

“This investment is a critical component of the 107th Air Wing’s transition to its new mission,” said Senator Gillibrand, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “This funding will convert our military facilities to ensure that our Air National Guardsmen and women stationed at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station have the most up-to-date facilities for training and mission support.”

Now that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved has authorized the funding, the bill can now move to the full Senate.
